1-on-1 Personal Training Northern Beaches

Most people at Solve train in our semi-private sessions — a small group of three, each with their own individual program, coached in real time. For most goals, that format works exceptionally well. But there are situations where full, undivided attention is the right approach. This is for those situations.

The format

What is 1-on-1 personal training?

1-on-1 personal training is exactly what it sounds like: one client, one coach, for the full 45-minute session.

Most people at Solve train in our semi-private sessions — a small group of three, each with their own individual program, coached in real time. For most goals, that format works exceptionally well. But there are situations where full, undivided attention is the right approach. This is for those situations.

At Solve, 1-on-1 carries the same longevity focus as everything else we do. The goal is always to build strength, improve mobility and maintain physical capacity for the long term. The difference is the level of attention you receive throughout.

Who is 1-on-1 personal training for?

Four situations where undivided attention genuinely earns its cost.

01

Complex rehabilitation

If you’re working through a significant injury, post-surgery recovery, or a condition that requires careful load management and close observation, 1-on-1 is the appropriate format. Your coach adjusts every set in real time — every rep scrutinised to maximise progress and safety. For clients managing chronic pain or working alongside a physio, this is the fastest path back, and often a bridge into semi-private once you’ve overcome the circumstances.

02

Significant movement restrictions

If your movement history means a standard program needs constant modification — or you need a coach’s eyes on you consistently throughout every exercise — 1-on-1 gives you that without interruption.

03

Specific short-term goals

If you have a defined, time-bound goal that requires concentrated coaching — a competition, a specific performance target, preparation for an event — 1-on-1 training makes sense for that focused training window.

04

A foundation before moving to semi-private

Some clients start with a block of 1-on-1 before moving into semi-private. It’s common where someone has come through rehab and is rebuilding confidence with movement, or needs more groundwork before training alongside others. Usually a bridge, not a permanent arrangement.

How it works

How 1-on-1 training works at Solve

Initial assessment

Before your first session you go through an initial assessment: a functional movement screen plus your training history, injury history and what you’re working toward. That assessment informs your program from day one.

Your session, start to finish

You arrive, your coach is ready, and your full 45 minutes are yours. The session is planned in advance and your coach watches and adjusts form on every set, from the first warm-up movement to the last. The format allows for more detailed movement work than a group setting — if something needs breaking down, rebuilding from the ground up, or progressing carefully over multiple sets under close observation, there’s time and space to do that. You leave knowing what you did, why you did it, and what comes next.

Working alongside your health team

If you’re being managed by a physiotherapist or specialist, we’re happy to coordinate — working within the parameters they’ve set, sharing session notes, and keeping your training aligned with everything else in your health management. We’re passionate about collaboration between healthcare, specialists and physiotherapists, because this multidisciplinary approach gets the best results from training.

Choosing between them

1-on-1 vs semi-private — which format is right for you?

Semi-private is our flagship format. For clients whose goals sit around strength, body composition, mobility or general longevity training — and who don’t have significant movement restrictions — it delivers the same quality of programming and real coaching attention at a cost that makes three sessions a week far better value.

1-on-1 is a specialist format. It’s the right choice when the complexity of your situation genuinely requires that level of focus, or when a defined short-term goal makes concentrated coaching worth the investment.

If you’re not sure which format suits you, book a free consultation. We’ll tell you what we think — including if we think semi-private is the better fit for where you are right now.

1-on-1 FAQs

Frequently asked questions

How long are 1-on-1 sessions?

45 minutes.

What’s the difference between 1-on-1 and semi-private?

In a semi-private session, you train alongside two other clients who are each running their own individual program — your coach is managing three people. In a 1-on-1 session, they’re managing only you.

Can I transition to semi-private later?

Yes. Some clients use 1-on-1 as a starting point — particularly after injury, or where they need more groundwork before training in a group — and move into semi-private once they’re ready. We’ll let you know when we think that transition makes sense.

Do you work with physiotherapists or specialists?

Yes. If you’re working with a physio or under guidance from another health professional, we’re happy to coordinate and train within the parameters they’ve set.

Do I need training experience to start?

No. Your program is built around where you are right now — whether you’re new to structured training, returning after a gap, or working through an injury.
