Muscle Mass After 40: Why It’s the One Thing Worth Protecting
Muscle isn’t about looking a certain way. It’s the tissue that decides how you function at 70, and it starts leaving quietly from your 30s unless you give it a reason to stay.
Longevity personal training · Brookvale, Northern Beaches
Train to build strength and mobility for lasting health. Stay strong, mobile and free from pain. Real, personalised coaching delivered in a small group of 3 at a private gym in Brookvale.
The core offer
With one trainer per three people, you get the attention to detail, accountability and personalised programming of personal training — at a lower cost.
We program and adjust everything according to your body and your goals. You just need to turn up and let us guide you through your plan.
No shared equipment, no queues. You’re in and out in 45 minutes, every session.
Booked sessions with a coach expecting you means you can’t cancel on yourself — so you train consistently enough to see and feel progress.
Training alongside others is more motivating and more fun than going it alone — without a coach who doesn’t know your name.
A private, focused and safe space to work on yourself without the chaos or egos of a busy commercial gym. Parking available on site.
Appointments available every 15 minutes during gym opening hours, so training fits the week you actually have.
How we train
Most programs treat mobility as a warm-up you rush through and strength as the real work. That’s why people get stronger in a narrower and narrower range, and end up stiff, sore and cautious.
We train them as one system. Range comes first, then we load it — so the movement you gain is movement you can actually use and defend under weight.
Range of motion trained under load, so new range becomes usable strength rather than a stretch that disappears by Thursday.
Compound movements loaded in a planned progression, with 5–8 exercises per session and conditioning added where it fits your goals.

The method
Fitness is a core component of health and longevity. We look after the physical pillars: strength, muscle, bone density, mobility and healthy weight.
While we care about longevity, we’re only one component of your longevity plan. For sleep studies, blood work and clinical longevity-oriented optimisation, speak to your doctor, or we can recommend alternative service providers. We stick to what we do best: helping you move, look and feel better for the long run.
How strong you are, and whether your strength is balanced across your body.
Moving freely through a full range and minimising stiffness or pain.
As we age this becomes increasingly important to actively train.
Intermittent assessment of blood pressure and waist-hip ratio.
Lean muscle, healthy body fat percentage, bone mineral density.

Meet your coach
“I started Solve because I know firsthand how transformative focusing on health and fitness can be — not just for your body, but for everything in your life.”
Every program is written by Max, and any coach delivering a session works to the same standard and to his programming. That’s the reason the semi-private cap is three and not eight — past that, the coaching stops being coaching.

Semi-private is billed weekly by how often you train: $90 for one session a week, $135 for two, $180 for three — which works out at $60 a session at three times a week. Facility access is included; there’s no separate gym membership.
Three sessions a week at $180 is roughly what most people pay for a single 1-on-1 session plus a gym membership. Every new client starts with a free consultation, so you can confirm the right format before paying anything.
Longevity training targets the physical qualities that determine how well you function in your 60s, 70s and beyond: strength, mobility, balance, bone density and body composition. The programs are built to protect the physical capacities that keep you independent, active and free from pain.
In practice that means progressive strength work as the foundation, with mobility and balance trained deliberately according to your needs. See what we track and measure →
Semi-private is our flagship format and where most of our clients train. One coach works with three people at once, each following their own individual program, at $60 a session when you train three times a week. You get coached technique, real-time correction and progression — at a price that makes three sessions a week cost about the same as one PT session plus a gym membership.
1-on-1 at $165 gives you undivided attention for the full session. It’s the right call for complex rehabilitation, significant movement restrictions, or a defined short-term performance goal. Some clients use 1-on-1 for a block and then move into semi-private once their foundation is built. If you’re not sure, the free consultation exists to answer exactly this.
No. Strength, mobility, bone density and balance all respond to training at any age — and the later you start, the more each of those matters for staying independent.
Everyone begins with a free consultation and a functional movement assessment, so your program is built around what your body can do right now, not what it could do twenty years ago. Semi-private sessions cap at three clients per coach, which means your technique is watched and corrected every session rather than left to chance.
Most people who come to us are managing something — a cranky back, a knee, a shoulder, or a diagnosis they’ve been told to train around. Your free consultation covers training history, injury history and current limitations before a single exercise is programmed, and movements are selected and loaded to work with the issue rather than around it.
If you’re being managed by a physiotherapist or specialist, we’re happy to coordinate, work within the parameters they’ve set and share session notes. Where a situation needs full-session attention, we’ll recommend 1-on-1 instead.
For most people seeking to improve strength, muscle mass and mobility for longevity rather than for sports competition, two to three coached sessions a week is the sweet spot — enough stimulus to build strength and bone density, and sustainable alongside work and family.
The semi-private format exists precisely so that frequency is affordable. We’ll set yours at your free consultation based on your goals, your history and your schedule.
Yes — progressive resistance training is one of the few interventions shown to slow, and in some cases reverse, age-related bone mineral density loss. This matters more after the age of 35, with muscle mass declining at 3–5% per decade without strength training.
The caveat is that strength training must be properly loaded and progressed over time for there to be significant benefit; light weights on a mat won’t do it. Bone density is one of the markers we program around and measure.
It’s a 45-minute conversation. We go through your goals, training history, injuries and schedule, run a functional movement assessment, walk you through the gym, and tell you which format we think fits for you.
The assessment happens inside the consult, so there’s no separate appointment before your first session — most people start straight after. You leave knowing exactly what training with us would look like, what it costs, and what your first block would involve. No obligation to continue.
We’re at Evexia Wellbeing, Unit 1/27 Dale St, Brookvale NSW 2100, with free parking on site. It’s a private gym, not a commercial gym floor, so there’s no waiting for equipment. We’re open 6:00am – 6:30pm.
We train clients from right across the Northern Beaches, including Freshwater, Curl Curl, Dee Why, Manly, Queenscliff, Balgowlah, Seaforth, Collaroy and Narrabeen. Get directions →

Muscle isn’t about looking a certain way. It’s the tissue that decides how you function at 70, and it starts leaving quietly from your 30s unless you give it a reason to stay.
Protein is the single most important variable in a fat loss diet — not because it burns fat, but because it decides whether the weight you lose comes off as fat or as muscle.
One gets you a coach’s undivided attention. The other gets you three times as many coached sessions for the same money. For most people, the second one produces better results — and here’s why.
